The
Light in the Darkness
A weekend intensive with Truthspeaker David Azoulay October 24-25, Austin Texas I said to my soul, be still, and let the dark come upon you Which shall be the darkness of God... I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope For hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love, For love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith But the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting. Wait without thought, for you are not ready for thought: So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing. ---T.S. Eliot, from the Four Quartets Times are usually difficult, and this time is no exception. The religious and the secular unite in painting grim pictures for what comes. Some view the current world situation as a product of man's wastefulness and wrong thinking, others as a spiritual event. Likely it is both. But what will come of us? Where is the world heading? How are we to plan our own lives, to know our purpose/work, or even to find ground to stand on when there is so much chaos in the system? October is a good month to lay these questions down upon the chill soil, to let the mind rest, and explore through forgotten means. Our work this weekend will be experiential, meaning we'll use movement, enactment, ritual, meditation, revelry, dialogue with the sacred other, and heart-sharing among brothers and sisters. We need each other as much as we need answers. Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the deepest self in you can find expression and meeting ground in this world. Come to the meeting ground and add your flame, that by our assembled light we may see and be warmed and have courage to look our task in the face and not turn away.
